This boxed set from Gollancz is a beautifully crafted work of art which contains all three volumes of the trilogy, namely The Blade Itself, Before They Are Hanged and Last Argument Of Kings. Abercrombie creates a story that grabs your throat right from the start and The only thing that bothered me about your review was that you did not mention the two strong female characters, Ferro and Ardee. Upon the completion of that book I promised myself that I would eventually get to reading and reviewing the other two books in Abercrombie's First Law Trilogy. In fact, one of my favourite books of all time is Before They Are Hanged, the second book of the First Law Trilogy. The first book of this series was probably the best fiction book I read last year and it would take a lot for this second volume to meet the standards set by the first. While I enjoyed The Blade Itself (Book 1 of The First Law trilogy), it wasn't until I read Before They Are Hanged (Book 2 of The First Law trilogy) that I really got into Abercrombie's writing. I was very anxious when I finally got my hands on Before They Are Hanged. In a round of covers 3 weeks ago, I posted some artwork for the Subterranean Press limited edition of Before They Are Hanged, book 2 of the First Law trilogy by Joe Abercrombie.
